A long-running land dispute pitting the UPDF and residents of Bukiyabi village in Bulambuli rumbles on. This week, the High Court in Mbale issued an injunction restraining the UPDF from evicting locals, selling their crops, and destroying their houses. At the center of the dispute is a site where Katta Barracks and an army hospital seat, which the locals claim as ancestral land. The locals accuse the army of violence during their eviction and demand justice even though the army views them as trespassers.
