4th Annual Symposium on Business and Human Rights

The 4th Annual Symposium on Business and Human Rights in Uganda was held on November 9th -10th, 2022 at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala and also had online presence.

The theme of the symposium was  ‘Strengthening Responsible Business Conduct In Uganda To Advance Respect For People And Planet ’.The symposium was convened by Resource Rights Africa (RRA, Dan Church Aid, Avocats Sans Frontiers (ASF), Uganda Association of Women Lawyers (FIDA-U), Witness Radio, SEATINI Uganda, Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in collaboration with the Danish Embassy in Uganda, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development and Uganda Human Rights Commission and with financial support from The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Denmark, the European Union and the Belgian Technical Cooperation.

The annual symposium brought together stakeholders in Uganda and globally to take stock of the opportunities and challenges in advancing respect for human rights by businesses at national and regional levels. The participants explored how accountability and remedy mechanisms for business-related human rights abuses in Uganda can be enhanced to advance respect for people and the planet in the next decade.
